BLACKPINK maintains their dominant position with an overwhelming brand reputation index of 10,162,333 points, showcasing their continued influence in the industry.
The rankings, which measure various metrics including participation, media presence, communication, and community indices, show aespa securing the second position with 6,400,635 points, while IVE claims the third spot with 5,748,658 points. (G)I-DLE and TWICE round out the top five with scores of 4,608,522 and 4,015,031 points respectively.
TWICE, despite being one of the most established groups, demonstrates strong staying power with particularly impressive media coverage scores of 902,589, the highest among all groups in the top 10. Meanwhile, (G)I-DLE shows robust community engagement metrics.
The second half of the top 10 features LE SSERAFIM (6th), OH MY GIRL (7th), Red Velvet (8th), BABYMONSTER (9th), and NMIXX (10th). Notably, YG Entertainment's rookie group BABYMONSTER has made a strong showing in the rankings, suggesting promising potential for the newcomers in the industry.
What's particularly interesting about these January 2025 rankings is the clear indication of how newer groups like aespa and IVE have risen to challenge established acts, reflecting the dynamic nature of the K-pop industry. The significant gap between BLACKPINK's scores and those of other groups underscores their unprecedented global success and brand power.
The research also reveals an interesting pattern in media coverage versus community engagement. While some groups like TWICE show strong media presence, others like IVE and aespa demonstrate remarkable community engagement scores, suggesting different strategies in maintaining their brand presence.
These rankings not only reflect the groups' popularity but also their overall impact on various aspects of the entertainment industry, from media presence to fan engagement. As the K-pop industry continues to evolve, these metrics provide valuable insights into the changing dynamics of girl group popularity and brand power in the Korean music industry.
