Song Joong-ki Addresses Candy-Smuggling Story from Military Days: "Hid It in My Underwear and Got Caught"

Actor Song Joong-ki has addressed the story about smuggling chocolate snacks during his military service.

In a video released on January 8th by YouTube channel 'Theo', Song appeared as a guest. During the show, MC Jang Do-yeon asked him, "Do you know about the witness account?" which caught Song by surprise.

Jang mentioned an online story about Song allegedly stealing Mongshell (a chocolate snack) during his military service. In response, Song recalled it as "the biggest dilemma of my life in basic training."

"When I was taking the bus for my unit assignment, the bus driver gave me a Mongshell. He encouraged me saying, 'Hang in there, Joong-ki. It must be tough being an older friend among younger guys,'" Song reminisced.

"I asked the driver, 'Is it okay to take this?' and he said 'It's fine.' So I hid it in my bag. But suddenly, they announced a belongings inspection. I quickly hid it in my underwear," Song revealed, drawing laughter.

"I was so scared at that time. And I eventually got caught. But I had no idea it would become a news story," he added with a laugh.

Song Joong-ki served in the military as an active duty soldier from August 2013 to May 2015, stationed at the 22nd Infantry Division's Reconnaissance Battalion.
