Song Joong-ki Reveals Children's Features: "Lips Like Mine, Eyes Like My Wife's"
Actor Song Joong-ki discussed his children during his appearance on TEO's YouTube channel 'Salon Drip 2' on January 7th, alongside his 'Bogota' co-star Lee Hee-jun.
Song, who married British actress Katy Louise Saunders in 2023 and has a son and daughter, shared details about his children's appearances. "The first child has my lips and my wife's eyes. The second one, conversely, has my eyes and my wife's nose and lips," he revealed.
When asked about traits he hopes his children will inherit, Song mentioned his wife's linguistic abilities. "My wife has lived in various places since childhood. She speaks English, Spanish, French, and Italian, and is currently learning Korean. I hope our children inherit her language skills," he said.
He added, "I'm envious of my wife, though she's my spouse. At parties, she can converse with various people in different languages. It seems to enhance the quality of life. I hope our children learn that."
Song also shared his recent joy in small talk: "While filming a drama in Pohang, I visited Bulguksa Temple on a break. I met a German woman looking for her shoes there and had a 40-minute small talk in English. It was such a happy moment."
Meanwhile, Song recounted episodes from filming 'Bogota' in Colombia. He noted the cultural differences between Colombian and Korean staff members, mentioning how Colombians greet with light cheek kisses and casual small talk, while Koreans remain bound by senior-junior relationships. "I suggested we try the cheek kisses too, but it felt quite awkward," he laughed.
Lee Hee-jun praised Song's considerate nature, saying, "Song Joong-ki is very thoughtful and caring. He pays attention to everything from the youngest staff members to the timing of staff dinners."
Song explained his approach to team dinners: "I plan first, second, and third rounds of dinners. We hold them when people are most tired, and the actors pool money to buy gifts like iPads and iPhones. I enjoy being the MC. I really love MCing these events."
