Song Joong-ki's 'Bogota' Plummets from 2nd to 5th Place Despite 5-Year Wait for Release

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated ticket sales network on January 9th, Song Joong-ki's film "Bogota: City of the Lost" (hereafter 'Bogota') attracted 8,298 viewers the previous day, bringing its total audience to 355,668.

Initially released on December 31st, 'Bogota' had a promising start, ranking second on its opening day. However, it dropped to third place by January 3rd and has further fallen to fifth place since January 8th.

The break-even point for 'Bogota', which reportedly had a production budget of 12.5 billion won, is 3 million viewers. At this rate, the film appears unlikely to reach even 500,000 viewers, let alone its break-even target of 3 million.

'Bogota's' former position has been taken by Park Ji-hyun's "Fairy Tale for Adults" and Adam Driver's "Ferrari," which drew 20,344 and 10,489 viewers respectively, securing second and fourth places.

Released in theaters on December 31st last year, "Bogota: City of the Lost" follows the story of Guk-hee (Song Joong-ki), who travels to Bogota, Colombia during the IMF crisis in search of new opportunities. The plot unfolds as he becomes entangled with influential figures in Bogota's Korean community, including Soo-young (Lee Hee-joon) and Park Byung-jang (Kwon Hae-hyo).

In the film, Song Joong-ki portrays Guk-hee, a character who immigrates to Bogota, Colombia at age 19 and experiences a dramatic rise from humble beginnings to success, performing alongside Lee Hee-joon.
